Proverbs 9:9

“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will
increase in learning.”

If we desire to be true students, we have to be able to take instruction and wisdom from
others who know more than we do without letting it move us. As students, we want to increase,
not just in our knowledge, but also in our application of what we learn and take in. It is easy to
hear a teaching and then not do anything about it, but still have knowledge of it. With teaching,
there is action behind what we learn and if we don’t increase in action, then it just stops at the
brain and we can’t do anything with it. When the Lord shows us something, we have to
recognize it, learn from it, and then change/put application behind what He taught us. This is a
continual process of sitting before Him and seeking out ways to change and apply the truth He
brings into our lives.
By having to put an action behind what the Lord teaches me and shows me through the
IBS we have to do everyday, it has changed the way I live and follow God. It isn’t easy having to
change a part of your daily routine, but it is possible when you are doing it for the Lord and to
follow His will in your life. Actions honestly do speak louder than words, people will look at the
way you act and judge you before they even say one word to you. If we live the way Jesus lived
while He was on earth and we make sure all of our actions are glorifying to the Lord, then we
will have more opportunity to talk to others and share the gospel with them. When our actions
reflect Christ, He shines through and people are curious about why we are different and want to
know more about why our life is the way it is. When we learn something, we apply, so that we
can share the gospel with those around us and give God the glory in it all. My application is to
pray for a dedicated heart to apply the truths I learn in my devotion each morning.
